Brandenburg is home to a wide range of research fields – extending from basic and innnovative research to application orientated R&D. In highly modernized facilities like the Telegrafenberg in Potsdam, top level research is being conducted (such as the "Tsunami Early Warning System”), concentrating in particular on climate and geological research. The Science Campus in Potsdam-Golm focuses on innovation, biotechnology and gravitational physics. Currently, 2,500 people are working there. As well as the oldest German Movie School, The University of Film and Television „Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam-Babelsberg, provide many attractive options for studying and focusing on innovative research.

The Universities cooperate with the major national research institutions in Brandenburg which represent the Fraunhofer, the Helmholtz, the Leibniz and the Max Planck association. These cooperations set an excellent example for the whole Land and provide additional opportunities for scientists, researchers and students.

Together with the in Stanford, the School of Design Thinking has taken a pioneering role in the development and dissemination of Design Thinking. The focus in Potsdam lies in the teaching method, the cooperation with project partners and the research and further development of Design Thinking.
