Organic Chemistry with focus on polymers (W3)
commencing at the earliest opportunity.
We are looking for an individual who represents the field of organic and polymer chemistry with an excellent/outstanding record of accomplishment in research and teaching. This should be demonstrated by publications in high-ranking international journals, successful third-party funding, and a clearly recognizable academic profile. The successful candidate has established its own profile by an innovative approach to polymers, polymer materials including the corresponding experimental methods and is willing to develop a strong research group on materials and methods over a long term at BTU.
The offered professorship is focused on the chemistry of synthesis, modification and functionalization of polymers and polymer materials, preferably with an emphasis on hybrid and composite materials, including the application and development of the required analytical methods. Further competences in modeling the chemical and physical properties of polymers and polymer materials is of advantage. We expect the close cooperation with the Fraunhofer project group "Biofunctionalization/Biologization of Polymer Materials".
The teaching commitments focus on the consecutive Bachelor and Master program "Materials Chemistry" (in German language) and includes the organization and performance of lectures, exercises, seminars and lab courses in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry and polymer materials including biopolymers. An active participation in the further development of the "Materials Chemistry" program is expected. Amongst others, this includes the establishment and conception of the new branch "Polymer materials with hybrid properties" in our master program and introduction of innovative teaching formats.
The ability to teach in German and English is a prerequisite for employment. Capability of high-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching in other BTU training programs is assumed.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG. Prerequisites and conditions of employment follow §§ 41 paragraph 1 (no. 1 - 4a) and 43 of the BbgHG. Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant for the DFG (German Research Foundation) or similar international research funding organizations. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
